Hi,

We manufacture bakery products ( cookie, biscuits short bread).

We do weight checks every 30 minutes by taking 5 samples or from every product run whichever comes first and record these weights.

All weight checks are done using table scales.

I am not sure the frequency of every 30 minutes would be acceptable by the BRC auditor e.g. how I can justify if challenged?

Does any one have sheet/form to work out the frequency of checks?

Appreciate your help and support.

Thanks

Martin

I imagine the more important question you need to answer is what you do when a check is off. Do you have corrective actions established in the event a check fails? Are you prepared, and do you have protocol in place, to rework (or dispose if necessary) of product since the last good check?

Frequency of checks should depend on the scope you are comfortable/able to rework, as well as sample size compared to lot size (If you are taking 5 samples every 30 minutes, how much total product are you typically producing in that time?)

The routine frequency depends on the actual results.

eg, An overall "defect" or too many individual  "defects" implies frequency should be increased until correction achieved..

Kind Regards,
