Hi,

We are looking at changing Pest contractor as we are not entirely happy with the service of our current provider.

Is it an absolute requirement that PCC has both technicians and field bio's?

The reason I ask , is that I am looking at using a "one man band" so to speak. He has considerable knowledge and has had field bio training, can he cover all the requirements on his own? Or would I need to get another "expert" in to cover the annual surveys?

Pest Management would also be audited independently as part of our Internal audit programme.

I feel it doesn't state any where I cannot do this, but don't want to leave it to auditor interpretation, any thoughts?

Thanks,

K

Hi Kareng1988,

From my understanding of the standard, as long as the operator is qualified, he could do both.

If you were to do it in-house, would you have more than 1 person doing it? In my organisation, I wouldn't as I don't have enough staff. so if that is acceptable, then an outside contractor who does both inspection and filed biologists visits surely must be acceptable.

I previously had issues with training record for contractors as the standard states that you can contract pest control to a "competent pest management organisation" (4.14.2). As long as you can get training records showing that the operator can carry out the activities, I don't really see an issue.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Aurélie
