Looks like a simple case of change the policy rather than find a way around it. On the presumption you are the person who makes the final decision with regards to the jewellery policy- are you happy for people to wear a ring (plain/patterned, wedding/decorative) in the facility? If yes, change the wording of the policy to allow one plain ring, remove the bit about it being a wedding ring. If no, change the policy entirely to stipulate no rings of any description.

We allow absolutely no rings, stone or otherwise. Visitors (not contractors doing work, think auditors, salesmen who will be escorted, etc.) are allowed to tape over their rings if they can't be removed.

Glen I'm going to use your link in our next weeks safety meeting to help drive home WHY they can't wear rings, and that it's not just a food safety thing. We have tons of machinery around here, something like that could easily happen.
