we're currently using sodium sulfite for boiler maintenance (corrosion control).  boiler is used  in a factory of carrageenan production. do we need to secure food-safety certification ? or is sodium sulfite  a GRAS  compound?

If you go to your chemical provider, they should be able to give you a document that states it is food grade.
