Is it mandatory to have an expiry code on exports to USA?

Hi all,

A client in the states asks me to write an internal code the symbolize the expiry date on the package.

I think he intends to add expiry stickers at the convinience store.

Is it mandatory for me to write expiry dates? or the representative can write the expiry date?

Date coding is required on all but 10 foods imported to the US - these foods include soy sauce and sugar. See the FDA site for details.
