Hello IFSQN team,

I am looking to approve 4 dietary active ingredients for a dietary supplement start-up company in the USA. Does anyone have recommendations for dietary ingredient suppliers?

Thank you!

Yes, but can you narrow the field down a bit to what you need specifically ?

Hello FoodB, I'm not clear on the original question.  What is it that you are hoping to accomplish, and what type of approval is needed--regulatory, quality control, etc.?  What would be the relevant regulations--USA or Canada--and are you manufacturing dietary supplements or supplying ingredients?

Hello Matthew ,

Thank you for your message.

I am hoping to purchase bulk dietary supplement ingredients to manufacture capsules/tablets/ other products for final sale in the USA.

I am looking for recommendations for suppliers that hold a third party cGMP certification under the 21 CFR 111 scope (BASF is currently one of our approved suppliers).

Thank you,

B

I don't know of a lot of suppliers with a cGMP certification under the 21 CFR 111 scope, although that is the relevant regulation for dietary supplement ingredients in the United States.  It is not something we require as a dietary supplement manufacturer, simply because we have a variety of supplier types and supplier geographical locations.  Sometimes we work directly with the grower.  This is why most of the time this scope would not be relevant to the supplier for us.  I know there are a number of certifiers out there such as USP and SGS, but we just haven't seen that many certificates of this type.  Sorry I can't help you more.

Matthew
