patience patience patience

aka talking with ignorant people is hard

oh, and you should probably be a bit of a control freak, super organized (even if it doesn't look like it) and a glutton for punishment

be able to understand how the entire plant functions, not just the food safety part---none of what we do is done in a silo

Its hard to fix issues when you can't really understand the actual problem

Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

Hi Mahmoud,

I suggest, for Starters -

- QC/QA - Juran's Quality Handbook: The Complete Guide to Performance Excellence

- HACCP - HACCP: A Practical Approach, Mortimore & Wallace

Kind Regards,

  • maintaining a good attitude
  • communicating with others
  • multitask if need to
  • ablility to work long hours
  • ability to work Excel/Word
  • organization
  • LOTS OF PATIENCE AND FOCUSING

It takes time and long hours to understand every book and the flow thorughout the facility. You will get knowledge from people that might know a thing or two. Don't just focus on your food safety at your section and think that's all you need to know. Apply yourself to explore the facility to understand the process of all. You'd be surprised the amount you will learn from others and the help you are giving yourself to further understand the QA responsibilites. :spoton:

I am currently work in a small family run business (USDA) and am training to become the QC Manager/HACCP Coordinator, our current manager is in 70s and has been in the industry for 40 years (I am 24). I am learning a lot just from him, plant manager(worked for company for over 13 years) and just walking the floor. Learning the whole process of why they do things from start to finish helps to further my understanding. In the first couple months of starting my jobs all I did was look over paperwork, read HACCP plans (6 plans), USDA articles, etc. I eventually was able to create and implement one of our HACCP plans.
