Hi Forum

Please can you advise me what is the current status of E171 ( Titanium dioxide) in Canada for imported goods.

We are chocolate manufacturer in UK and we sell some of pre packed final product in Canada and export them to a client in Canada but with current situation what is the Canada regulatory stand on Titanium dioxide as colour on confectionery.

Since the publication of EUFSA that E171 is no longer deemed safe we are working on alternatives but also at the same time got products which are containing Titanium dioxide and we know that we may have an alternative but not till next year March or April it will be good to know, what is the current stand on Canada on it.

Regards

D~

It looks like it is included in the latest version of the list of permitted food additives, for certain categories of food and in some case subject to limits on inclusion rate: https://www.canada.c...ing-agents.html

You'll need to look through that to see if your specific products are included and compliant with any applicable limits.
