We are putting together our quiz system for all our SQF Trainings. Does anyone know the SQF requirement for these tests? The # of questions? Is it enough to show a quiz has been given to each trainee, and after everyone's done they self-grade their quiz and we reviewed the answers as a group?

We don't want to have to individually grade quizzes and want this to be as simple as possible. Would greatly appreciate hearing what everyone else is doing for this.

What we do for quizzes is a pre test first then they do the training and then we do a post test of the same questions. We have incorporated Alchemy for our trainings and it has helped tremendously.

What training exactly are you talking about???

The code actually states: "A training program shall be documented and implemented that at a minimum outlines the necessary competencies for specific duties and the training methods to be applied to personnel carrying out tasks associated......................"      It says you need to describe them, not test for them

Our new training program simply asks the employee to attest that they understand the training they have received.  That way we do not need to "grade" a quiz ever again

If your just talking about GMP training,, I would just add an attestation to the hand out that contains the details of the training

If it's CCP monitoring, an on site verification that they are following the SOP will suffice

I'm referring to the primary SQF training modules such as Food Defense, Food Fraud, GMPs, Chemical Policy, etc...

I don't know how deep we have to go in Validating comprehension after the main SQF trainings. Currently our system is handing out a quiz after the training, letting employees answer the questions (usually 8) then having the trainer go over the correct answer for each question and letting employees self-grade their tests. We then ask if there are questions and if everyone understands the quiz, and if they do, they sign the bottom of their quiz indicating comprehension. The note at the bottom tells them not to sign unless they understand any questions they may have missed.

I have no idea if this is acceptable, but having to individually go over each missed question with individual employees just isn't plausible. Looking for the most efficient way to show comprehension as possible. Too much work already!

Agree with Scampi.  I have used just a simple sign off sheet that states:  "By signing this I have received this training, any questions I had were answered and I fully understand the SOP or the training that was provided."  I do use quizzes as well, and there is nothing in the code on how many questions or what questions need to be asked.  I also worked at a place that used Alchemy due to the size of the facility and number of employees, and it worked really good.  You have to develop a system that works best for you and your sites training needs and be able to defend as it applies to the code for the audit.

Just remember you need to validate your training. If you're having issues with employees on any of the areas you train, you might need to change as you wouldn't be able to validate the effectiveness of your training.
