Hi all,

My facility is 1 of 200 or so facilities. Ours being the first of its kind..

We are the sad duck left to fend for themselves.

With that being said, we run all our suppliers through the national headquarters for approval prior to using.

I am creating our register internally along with our associated online program that houses our approved suppliers.. basically making sure all our suppliers end up on our national database since thats what our current SOP states.

I am working to create some sort of non-conformance matrix  on our own suppliers since national does that internally.. rating suppliers low vs high risk.

I've reached out to see if they could give me the template they use as well.

For example.. after several cases of moldy cheese I want to be able to review this supplier on the annual basis and reach a decider if this supplier stays or not.especially since we are left on our own.

I am referencing SQF code 9 Food Manufacturers for Approved Suppliers.

Thanks!~

You are correct that you are required  to have "Methods" and "frequencies" for monitoring approved suppliers and reviewing their performance.   Just because a supplier is approved does not mean they may have issues in the future and can not / should not be removed from approval.

What I have done / seen done is create  a form with key factors that are important to your operation.  Then each evaluate / score suppliers each month based on this criteria.  Once this is done a new risk / status  may be assigned.

I have attached a cheesy example.    it may help give you some thoughts on how you can put together a program to ensure suppliers are being continually evaluated.

You may want to create a vendor non conformance form---complete one/issue, notify the vendor and track the response(s)----that way you have amply documentation if you chose to de-list a vendor

Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

A supplier's risk rating surely also relates to what is being supplied, not just Performance. And a variety of other characteristics such as Supplier Audit ?

Thanks all. Correct, we do already have our supplier risk assessment for our materials. I guess I am looking more towards a risk or.. rating for nonc-onformances that stem from suppliers so during our annual we can pick and choose

Hi lavaliente,

The point is that the overall  "risk" may be dependent on both, ie their effects are not necessarily independent.

Kind Regards,
