Codex Alimentarius has modified the second principle HACCP

Hi Formazegg,
You are correct that the original Codex tree has been removed from Codex2020 although some of its content (but not all) is still restated in the text and tables. Might add that even the previous Codex versions noted that the use of a decision "tree" was only one of various possible approaches.
A major change in Codex 2020 compared to Codex2009 is the explicit introduction of "significant hazard". (19 references in latest version, nil in previous). Not a new concept but this change of "emphasis" parallels some analogous changes in iso22000:2018. Two examples from Codex2020 -
"Critical Control points are to be determined only for hazards identified as significant as of the result of a hazard analysis."
"Critical Control Point (CCP): A step at which a control measure or control measures, essential to control a significant hazard, is/are applied in a HACCP system."
If you would like to see one practical "interpretation" of the above concept can try this (actually quite old) model hazard analysis -

However Codex2020 itself offers a "new" hazard analysis/CCP 'tree" structure sheet (Diagram2) more like that now afaik used by FSMA (and perhaps earlier by CFIA). If you wish to see some model examples of FSMA's usage I suggest you consult this well-known text (see Appendices) -
