Dear all,
At present we are updating the procedure for food-grade lubricants purchase. Our aim is to make the procedure fulfilling GSO 2055-1:2015 (General Requirements for Halal Food).
As an enhancement to the old procedure. From the QC point of responsibility and roles, we have added more parameters for the acceptance to buy any food-grade lubricants that can come into incidental contact with products and packaging used in food or feed manufacturing. The parameters will include mandatory requirements that the manufacturer or the supplier MUST provide and optional requirements where the manufacturer or the supplier will gain a better position according to suppliers’ selection criteria results if provided from his side.
(Mandatory requirements):
- Availability of Halal certificate for the food-grade lubricants.
- Datasheet (MSDS).
- Food-grade/ physiologically inert suitability declaration letter or evidence to be provided from the manufacturer, or the supplier.
- Free of allergens declaration letter or evidence to be provided from the manufacturer, or the supplier.
- Lubricants category/ or type. For example, H1, H2, and H3.
Notes:
- Physiologically inert: Tasteless and odorless.
- H1 lubricants: Food-grade lubricants used in food-processing environments where there is the possibility of incidental food contact.
- H2 lubricants: Food-grade lubricants are used on equipment and machine parts in locations where there is no possibility of contact.
- H3 lubricants: Food-grade lubricants, typically edible oils, used to prevent rust on hooks, trolleys, and similar equipment... etc.
(Optional requirements):
- The manufacturer, or supplier had gained a GMP or ISO 21469 certificate.
- The manufacturer, or supplier had registered/ received approval for the product intended to be used as a food-grade lubricant from a reputable/ recognized party, such as National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) as either H1, H2, or H3, depending on the intended application and formulation.
Highly appreciate your guide to add/ change the above parameters.
Many thanks in advance.
