Good Afternoon,

Knowing that we could have a FSMA audit in the near future-has anyone had one and if so what are they really looking for this year. Couple of years ago there biggest thing for us was the micro toxins in raw material from suppliers and having documentation on files.

In my experience, depends on the inspector. We had one recently. I didn't notice much difference in what they looked at from the prior one. Make sure whatever they found in the past inspection has been fixed.

They will likely look at your Food Defense Plan. That's the newest addition.

Kind regards,

They'll also look at sesame to ensure you are controlling it if you have it in your facility.

It depends on the type of inspector you will have. In general, it will cover the same topics as it was covered during your previous inspection. Make two things ready:

  1. - Food safety plan (management committement, food safety policy, HACCP/risk assessment, sanitation schedule, sanitation cleaning evidence, traceability procedure)
  2. - Do a mock recall if you have not had a real recall during this/last year. So you will be ready.

In addition, check for the expiration date of all baby food. Other than that, it will be a regular GMP like inspection.
