Hello all,

I am a QA assistant in a drinking straw manufacturing company and I should implement the HACCP for a Global Markets Programme certification (FSSC 22000 in the future).

We produce a variety of products, from straight to flexible straws and they are made of different raw materials (polypropylene, PLA, biocellulose, agave fibers) My question is related to the scope I should take regarding the HACCP plan.

Our processes are extrusion, corrugated (for flexible straws) and casing (in paper or bopp)

Should I made a HACCP for every kind of product, although the process is the same for all, the only variable is raw materials that make them biodegradable or compostable?

Or can I include all the products in the same plan?

Moreover, I've been looking for some templates regarding hazard analysis and the hazards related to the plastic industry. It would be helpful if you can share some of your knowledge.

Thanks so much

A.

Hi,

I don't have experience in the packaging world but in the food world, multiple products can be part of the same plan as long as their processes are related, which seems to apply in your case. With the processes being similar, the hazards should be similar enough to group together and not have multiple plans to have to create, work with, review, etc.

Hopefully someone else can provide some help more specific to your query.

Hi Alejandrosh,

For some ideas, can maybe try -

https://www.iopp.org...cfm?pageid=2267

As per previous post, grouping is possible if process/hazard analysis are "similar".

Any particular Standard targetted, eg BRC ??

Kind Regards,
