Hi All,

An very small bakery manufacturing company in Southern California is interested in getting GMP audit certification. They have 12 people total (including 9 production employees, 1 supervisor and 2 managers) and the manufacturing and storage facility is located in only 4000 sf area total. The facility looks like a big kitchen rather than a manufacturing one. The products are frozen uncooked filled or unfilled pasta.

NSF GMP is a good audit certification however, the audit fee is out of the company's budget. Can anyone suggest other basic GMP audit which is designed for very small scale food manufacturing company and has low audit fee?

Thank you

O.C

You did not say what you are paying now.

I can only guess but the fees are pretty standard across the board.

Considering that NSF is very competetive I would think the best would be around 7000. considering 1 day onsite, 1/2 travel day and 1/2 day write up plus expenses.

Hello O.C.,

Yes getting some perspective on what NSF quoted you would be helpful. Usually the quote can vary slightly by your operation's size and scope. Keep in mind that travel expenses are usually extra as well.

I have had good luck in the past using Eurofin's GMP certification services, they seem to be lower cost than other CBs. Oftentimes facilities seek certifications because of customer requirements. Always make sure that they CB you're pursuing is going to be acceptable to your biggest customers.

Hello SQF Consultant and Brothbro,

Thank you for your inputs. The NSF GMP audit would cost around $3000 with a local auditor.

$3000 sounds pretty hard to beat imo, especially if you get a local auditor to the SoCal area that doesn't need to fly to your location. Your additional expenses would be pretty low.

$3000 is a bargain you will not find anything under that. Stick with it.

They are all about same price. Be sure your customers will accept the audit you choose. Ask certification body for a local auditor to save on travel.
