Hello everyone,

Could you help me develop a testing protocol for the nutritional analysis of canned products?

If the food is in salt or brine, we drain out the liquid and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before doing a nutritional analysis.

How would you proceed with the nutritional analysis if you are consuming the liquid of the product for example tomato juice, olive oil or fruit juice?

The lab typically uses 100ml of the sample from a 400ml can, in this case, how can you divide the solid food product and the liquid? Is 4 parts solid to 1 part liquid a good sample?

Is there a protocol for this?

Appreciate any help on this.

Thank you!

Yeah, if they were using both the liquid and the solid, it would need to be made homogenous first by blending :)
