Hi Nanner,

:welcome:

Welcome to the IFSQN forums.

Your post is a bit confusing, 'she stated' - who is she, were you the auditor?

If the sinks are there and regular hand washing is to be encouraged, hand washing signs would be appropriate. In fact I can't think why I wouldn't have a hand wash sign wherever there is a hand wash sink on site.

Also, I would want people to wash their hands after leaving these areas, particularly after exiting a laboratory performing micro testing.

Kind regards,

Tony

The lab should 100% have a posted policy to wash hands PRIOR to exiting the lab-seems a no brainer to me

One sign doesn't cover all sinks - every sink gets a sign, agree with Tony.

Every sink or every handwashing station (multiple sinks next to one another) should have a visible sign that can be understood by all staff.

There are sanitary zones for personnel that need separation and handwashing.  The obvious example is restrooms, personnel are expected to wash their hands when they leave this higher risk zone in addition to when they enter the production risk zone. Microbiology laboratories are the same, its a high risk zone, so having a handwashing sink as part of its sanitary separation is pretty normal.
