BRCGS Global Standard Packaging Materials Issue 7 has been published and is available now.

 

‘Originally developed and published in 2001, the Global Standard Packaging Materials was designed to protect the consumer by providing a common basis for the certification of companies supplying packaging to food producers. 

The Standard provides all types of packaging manufacturers with a robust framework to assist them:

in the operational manufacture of safe packaging materials and related products

to manage product quality to meet customers’ requirements

to fulfil obligations regarding legal compliance and protection of the consumer or user.

 

The format and content are designed to allow a company’s premises, operational systems and procedures to be assessed against the requirements of the Standard by a competent third party.’

BRCGS Website: Packaging Materials Issue 7 - Now Published

 

Issue 7 is here!

 

'We are really excited to inform you that Global Standard Packaging Materials Issue 7 and the associated Key Changes document have been published on the BRCGS website and on Participate.

 

Throughout the development of Issue 7, the objective was to clarify and strengthen the requirements. This enhanced focus on the fundamental concepts aims to reduce the frequency of the most common non-conformities seen with Issue 6. The themes that were considered include:

The continued evolution of product safety culture

Update to the requirements for hazard analysis and risk assessment systems in line with Codex Alimentarius

Continual improvement processes and implementation of systems

Global applicability and consideration of current GFSI Benchmarking requirements

 

Issue 7 brings the Standard up to date with current industry trends and practices, for example the inclusion of single-use disposable products. This ensures that it continues to add value and instil trust for all stakeholders in the industry.'
