Anyone know what are the guidelines to label a natural type flavor on the principle display panel in the US. I understand that in the ingredient list, you can simply put it as "Natural Flavors", but I could not find any information regarding how to label it in the principle display panel. FDA only mentioned how to label WONF flavors and all articles from flavor companies just explain what a type flavor is, but did not explain how to label them, with the exception of the following article.
From this article
https://foodsafetyte...atural-flavors/
"For example, what if your product is a lemon pie, but you flavor it only with natural flavors derived from limes? In that case, you must either include by the product name the identity of the actual flavor (for example, “with natural lime flavor”), or you must identify it as being artificially flavored."
For example, if you have a natural banana type flavor you want to use it in a milkshake. Do you label it as
Banana Flavor Milkshake
Artificially flavored
or can you label it as
Banana Flavor Milkshake
Artificially flavored with other natural flavors
What if you are using two flavors, for example a natural strawberry WONF flavor and a natural banana type flavor for your milkshake
Do you label it as
Strawberry Banana Flavor Milkshake
Naturally and Artificially Flavored
or do you label it as
Strawberry Banana Flavor Milkshake
Artificially Flavored
because there are no natural banana in your product?
