Mixed with the misery of a New Year this is indeed sad news, compounding today's wretched .25% interest rate by the BOE (the third rate rise in 6 months) and the appearance of a mother of all spots on my proboscis. Truly distressing.

What about our mortgage Simon ? I have a variable rate mortgage, this means increased cost for us :crybaby:

An ancient Chinese proverb teaches that the person who waits for a roast duck to fly into their mouth must wait a very long time.

Well exactly Franco; I was advised to take out a variable rate mortgage when we purchased our house about 8 months ago. Interest rates have since increased 3 X .25% (.75%) and are likely to rise further over the coming months. Should have been :fixed: I never was a lucky gambler.

Dear Simon,

The news about Hull is very sad indeed. seems that there are a lot of "rationalisations" occurring in the seafood industry.
