When you stop and think about the Internet it really is amazing!

Take these forums as an example. OK we're only ‘small time' but in less than 18 months we have attracted almost 300 members and thousands more visitors from all over the world including Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, USA, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia and the UK to name but a few.

Imagine if we were discussing something really interesting!

No seriously, the Internet and these forums have allowed us ‘like minded individuals' to get together and share our ideas as well as the odd bit of banter. And I think that's fantastic.

When you're immersed in ‘keyboard conversation' it's quite easy to forget that you're talking with people from all over the globe.

But who exactly are we?

I thought it would be interesting if members took a few moments and explained:

1. who you are
2. where you are from
3. what you do
4. the big issues you face in your industry, country, region
5. how you found your way to the forums
6. what you are interested in discussing
7. anything else you would like to say

I do hope members take this up. As well as being interesting it will help us all to get to know each other a little better.

Regards,
Simon

Me too Simon, this kind of communication suits me :clap:

Sometimes I wonder if I would be able to communicate with my neighbours as effectively as I do in some Forums :D

1. Who you are: Franco Zamuner, aged 39, chemistry degree and quality devoted;

2. Where you are from: Italy, spaghetti and mandolino land;

3. What you do: anything that proves to be useful for my company and my salary :lol:;

4. The big issues you face in your industry: lack of scientific approach;
The big issues you face in your country: lack of scientific approach;
The big issues you face in your region: lack of scientific approach;

5. How you found your way to the forums: I think a sort of random surfing took me to an italian newsgroup and then from there to Forums;

6. What you are interested in discussing: "foot on the ground" matters. IMHO there are too many people discussing of Maximun Systems :blahblah:

7. Anything else you would like to say: thanks to all Saferpakers and Special Thanks to ST. I hope sooner or later we will organize a Saferpakers meeting :beer:

1. Who you are: Alan Bonnington. I'm 39 but feel (and look) a lot older;

2. Where you are from: Derbyshire in the UK - where everything is green and luscious (that will be because of all the rain.....)

3. What you do: I work in flexible packaging for the food industry (otherwise known commonly as plastic bags) Official job title is Quality Manager, looking after the Quality System and day-to-day quality stuff. Also manage the sites hygiene and environmental systems;

4. The big issues you face in your industry: Considered as being a cheap form of packaging but we are bogged down with so much red tape it makes packaging from other countries more appealing to our customers;
The big issues you face in your country/region: We don't like winners or anyone successful? Anyone shows any initiative or skill and the people without any will do everything they can to discredit them......

5. How you found your way to the forums: I seem to remember receiving a free copy of the 'Food Packaging Hygiene' booklet and thought how it was exactly what I had been looking for....the rest as they say is history;

6. What you are interested in discussing: Absolutely anything (not very helpful am I);

Buxton is about 40 miles away from us.
I come from medium-sized town called Ilkeston, nicely situated between Nottingham and Derby (which made for interesting debates on football when I was growing up - now a lot support Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea....you know, the local sides). :doh:

American Adventure is a theme park just outside Ilkeston.

A few rollercoasters, river rapids etc. Not a bad day out but quite small.

Randall (call me Randy) Daily

I currently live in Greenwood, Arkansas (that's in the USA for you foriegners)

Right now I'm managing Environmental, Health & Safety compliance for a manufacturing corporation here in the States. I am a medically retired municipal police officer ( I got shot, stabbed and run over by cars a couple of times) and a retired military reservist (29 years in the Marines and Army).

My (our) major issues are in meeting our enviromental regulatory requirements (primarily air emissions) and controlling workers compensation (injury) costs.

I found my way here from a link in another forum.

My main interest is in occupational safety and management systems, that's why I came here.

I look like the only Yank here (don't call me that because I live in the South and the Yanks are those clods from up North that burnt eveything down in the 1860's depriving me of my heritage) :lol2:
