I got an offer from a consultant recently regarding statistical process control software package including ANOVA, PPAP, DFMEA etc. I can use these as aids for 'preventive action'? Any suggestions?

Best regards,

A Sankara Narayanan

Dear Sankara,

Statistical process control in many food processes is useful to prove what you knew already - that yr process is not in statistical control and cannot easily be made so.

dear shankara ,
despite the previous pessimistic approach - answer my belief is that depending on the process SQC is a very valuable tool , you can find statistics everyday around you from process improvement to trend analysis in micro results .I strongly believe in the application of sqc in food industry .

Have a little browse around the site below to see the applications and benefits of using SPC in the Food industry.

HACCP and SPC

NOTE: Admittedly the site owners are SPC software sellers. ;)

Dear Shankar,

Be careful while using these SPC tools in your processes, baseline is to understand they give only numbers and a lot depends on your interpretation and common sense as a lot of time you do not have a clear black and white explanation for variations in the process.

All the best

Regards
Ganesh
