Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding on the OPRP. During packaging of the powder mixture process, the powder is packed into paper bag pouch/ aluminium pouch then sealed it with heat sealing method.
Should the heat sealing process consider as OPRP? My concern is if the pouch is not properly sealed (eg, sealing temperature too high/ timing is not long enough) the leakage of the packaging bag might cause the products becomes humid if store in room temperature then eventually might cause shorten shelf life.
I would like to listen some opinion on this before I make the decision to set it as OPRP. Hope can get some information in this forum.
Best regards,
Chia
Hi Chia,
Iso22000 is a FS Standard.
The answer to yr query relates to Risk assessment.
You first need to specify the precise BCPA hazard which you envisage is related to the event mentioned.
I deduce you consider that a pouch sealing defect might (somehow) cause an increase in product moisture content. Moisture, per se, is not a safety-related hazard so outside the scope of Iso22000. In contrast, “Contamination” due, for example, to contact with a microbial pathogen in the proximate environment could be a safety-related hazard.
A risk assessment would consider (a) the likelihood of a pouch sealing defect, (b) the likelihood of the proximate environment containing microbial pathogens, (c) the specific severity of (b).
In practice, I would hope that yr “Maintenance”/EMP Programs (Prerequisites) would render (a,b) to be unlikely and any risk to therefore be Low ?.
