I'm a hotelier from Turkey and am considering getting a certification for my hotel. I've read a few things on internet regarding to HACCP and ISO 22000, but finally came across this wonderful forum.
It seems like a lot of companies are switching to ISO 22000 since it's becoming the new worldwide standard. Is that true? Shall I also consider getting certified to ISO 22000 instead of HACCP? For some reason, HACCP is very popular in my area. Not because many hotels have HACCP certification, but because many hoteliers believe that HACCP is "the standard" of Food Safety.
According to what I've read so farm ISO 22000 is based on HACCP's principles and improved them. But the most important aspect for me is that the Food Safety Certification I get should be accepted worldwide and everyone should know about it (guests, tour operators, etc). And another thing which worries me is what ISO 9001 has become in time. ISO 9001 has become too commercial, and it got so pouplar that having a ISO 9001 certification does not mean much anymore. I'm afraid that the same thing might happen to ISO 22000 in the future.
