Hello everybody:

This is my first post, and I want somebody to give me some information regarding analyse possible hazard of chemical products used in the production of Carbon Dioxide. This products are MONOETHANOLAMIN, POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE and SODIUM CARBONATE.

As part of the HACCP team, we analyse possible hazards (chemical, biologycal and physical) in all the stages of the production of Carbon Dioxide; however, in additional, we've been told to analise the chemical products involved.

I really appreciate if you provide me any source I can check.

Dear elito,

Welcome to the forum! :welcome:

Not quite sure i understand yr question.

Are you asking regarding possible chemical contaminants (from the production) in CO2 which may represent a hazard when using it as a refrigerant in food processing ? Or ??

Kind Regards,

Charles:

Our Carbon Dioxide is one the component of beverages like sprite or coca cola. In order to produce this carbon dioxide, our facility uses three chemical products I mentioned in my post (MONOETHANOLAMIN, POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE and SODIUM CARBONATE).

Now we are working on identify possible hazards in these chemicals. As carbon dioxide, we don't have any problems because our product is based on ISBT, CGA and EIGA standars.

Dear elito,

Sorry, my difficulty in understanding yr post.

I guess you are talking about “something” like this –

Attached File  CO2 manufacture.png   282.57KB   24 downloads

in additional, we've been told to analise the chemical products involved.

You are asking for a procedure to check the purity of these 3 chemicals yourself ? Is that right ?
(presumably they should be purchased as food grade with individual specifications compatible with yr known requirement for the end product. IMEX, typical, detailed, analyses are usually available from the supplier however some specific contaminants for the final product might not be given, these are usually verified by analysing the finished product which you state is satisfactory )

It may be necessary to have the analyses done by a private lab in which case you may have to exactly specify the required items to check, eg heavy metals, sulphur compounds, whatever (as per yr spec. for final product)

Hope I hv understood yr question correctly ? Pls revert if not.

Kind Regards,
