Hello,

 

What exactly is required for the specifics of raw materials in this section. Are the defined limits what is on the certificate of analysis?

Good Day,

 

First of all, do you know what a certificate of analysis is? If not, it is a certificate (usually from an accredited laboratory) with specific chemical or micro levels on it stating the batch of product you have received meets a required standard.

 

If for example, you are purchasing fresh fruit, you may want a certificate of analysis from your supplier with details of pesticide residual levels to ensure the fruit you are buying conforms to a legal and customer standard.

 

Similarly, if you are buying cooked meat, you could ask your supplier for a certificate of analysis with the delivery to ensure the absence of pathogens.

 what is yr type of product / process ?

 

indeed clause 3.6 uses a beautifully ambiguous BRC word - integrity !!

But clause 3.6.1 spells it out more usefully.

 

specification, as per previous post, defines BCP quality criteria on which you evaluate / pay for the product. I expect you must hv some ???

from a FS, POV, those relating to safety are (obviously) pre-eminent. Specs should be mutually agreed for buyer / seller and documented.

3.6.1 Raw Material Specifications shall include limits for all parameters critical to the safety, legality and quality of the product.

 

As Simon has pointed out a COA usually applies to the batch supplied and confirms the material meets your agreed specification. A lot of companys require a COA with a delivery for acceptance.

Hello

Thank you for your responses. My company works with bottled edible oil products and bottled vinegar and acidic condiment products. So under this section for the BRC certification should I just put the COA's from all the vendors? Does that cover the requirements listed in the BRC manual for this particular section? Thank you

Dear Lazlo,

 

There seems to be a communication gap somewhere. :smile:

 

Do you have a Purchasing section ?

 

If they order materials, do they have a document, mutually agreed  with the supplier listing factors (and maybe tolerances) for required composition, safety aspects etc ?

 

This is the (Your) "Specification". The details are as spelled out in 3.6.1. If you don't have one, BRC will regard this as a NC.

 

There are several examples of  "Specifications" on this forum. Maybe try a little searching.
