Hi everibody, I'm Damián from Argentina and I've and Issue related to SMED. We are in the autopartist industry making lots of stuff with plastic using diferent dies with the same injector. According LEAN and SMED tecniques, you have to be able to exchange dies in single minute, but we can`t even imagine how to do that because exchange die is a large and complex proccess for us.

The question is ¿Does anybody know about some bibliography, FAQ or forum about this kind of issue especially applied to injection proccess)? ¿Can anybody help us?

Thanks a lot

Damián

Hi Damián and welcome.

Of course 'single minute' die change would be perfect, but it may not be achievable for your process. What can be achieved is continuous step by step improvement to get your change times down to its lowest possible level. There are some people who visit these forums from injection moulding process so hopefully someone might be able to help you. It would be good to know what your current time is, what actions you have taken so far to reduce the complexity and time and how successful you have been.

Regards,
Simon
