Hi,
I am currently putting together a medical screening program for cracker manufacturer. I would like to know some of the test that are commonly conducted during medical screening. So far i have the following:
Salmonella
gastroenteritis
widal test
staphylococcus & streptococcus
Hepatitis A, B, C
full blood count
physical examination
urine test.
I would really appreciate your views.
I would also like to know if it is possible to meet the medical screening clause without doing medical examination on employees.
Hi Jessica,
Two points to add the the useful FSA document posted by Charles:
BRC Guidance adds:
The company shall be expected to define the infections of concern as advised by local legislation (e.g. list of communicable diseases).
So you should source local advice as well.
BRC Guidance also adds:
The company may consider the use of a pre-employment and/or return to work medical questionnaire or medical examination (e.g. stool testing), as appropriate to the risk.
So the higher the risk of your products the more likely a medical examination is required.
Kind regards,
Tony
