Good afternoon,

I am looking for information on everyone's favorite IR/Halogen moisture & Aw analyzer's.

MA: We currently use a vacuum oven to test moisture and would like to move towards something with a shorter result time. Our product is primarily a sugar/glucose syrup confection. We don't use MA as a pass/fail measurement but more of an indicator to ensure our process is within spec.

Aw: Currently do not test in-house but would like to better understand what constitutes a "good" Aw meter to determine payback on purchasing equipment/pros/cons/etc.. Again, the result does not determine pass/fail.

Thank everyone in advance for their input!

Hi nmonster

I use the Aqua lab 4TE, we find it a fantastic bit of kit, I do 60 samples per day in this machine. http://www.aqualab.c...vity-meter-4te/

You can get a version that does AW and Moister tests http://www.aqualab.c...alyzer-4te-duo/

hope this information helps

Cheers

Ange

If your requirement is "Moisture content" of the product then preferably use Karl-fischer titrators over water activity meters. It gives fast results and the cost is lesser than water activity meter. The advanced KF-titrators have ovens for removing any interference from volatile components.

LOD gives results for moisture + volatiles at that specific temperature.

Thank you for the response, Ange! I will definitely be looking into the Aqua Lab as we have about 80 samples per day to test.

Hi Mesha, Thank you for the response. I primary requirement is moisture content; however if I am going down this path, I would like to measure Aw as well, more for verification purposes than anything. I will check into the the advanced KF models.

I've recently acquired a novasina labswift - Aw. By no means at the'high' end of these meters but still very pleased with it. Quick and accurate results when compared with accredited laboratory results and very simplistic to use. think in the region of £3k new

Hello Ange!

I just read the above post suggesting the Aqua Lab 4te. We are currently using this in our laboratory, and I have some questions that I was hoping to get another user's opinion on. Would you be willing to help me?

At any rate, thank you so much for your time!
