We have a primary storage area attached to the manufacturing area, when this area is full we use a secondary storage warehouse. Do I need a food safety plan for this 2nd storage facility or should I perform a risk analysis and not create a plan???

Audit SQF edition 8 upcoming and GAP assessment recommends food safety but a risk assessment should be sufficient???

Thank you!

OK, thanks for the partial answer - I need to know if it is on-site, down the road a half mile or what?

Yes, it is about a 1/2 mile from the main processing facility.

1. Include it in your SQF Scope and an ensure that your documentation, procedures, etc cover that building as well, including all services that you would have at your main storage facility.

Not sure how one gets away with writing a risk analysis for this - nope.

Yes roll it into your existing scope. We have a building 1 block down that we use as a finished goods warehouse (we are a packaging manufacturer). We had to do extensive internal work to it as it was previously a weld shop. Now when the auditor inspects it we're there for all of 10 minutes. All pest control, inspections, preventive maintenance repairs etc are carried out and documented same as for the manufacturing facility. We ship directly from there also but there are no employees there unless a load is shipping.
