Hello,

Our past SQF practitioners took their certificates on Alchemy Academy but it seems like with a basic Google search, their site is gone? Has it been replaced with Zosi? If so, have the prices increased? I'm not surprised but I want to be sure that I am purchasing the correct courses since they are all priced at about $500 average.

Couple years back, we ordered "Implementing SQF Systems Course: Manufacturing" but I can only find "SQF Quality Systems Course, Edition 9".

We also ordered "Basic HACCP: Online Course", but now it's just called "Basic HACCP Certification Course" but at a $200 increase?

Please help me. I am quite confused. I have also reached out to our account manger at NSF who is not much help either.

Hi QC/WC,

London-based Intertek, a global quality assurance and testing firm with offices in 100 countries, acquired Alchemy Systems. The new name is Intertek Alchemy.

Looks like they have rebranded as Zosi which is part of Interlek Alchemy. Here is Zosi’s Implementing SQF Fundamentals Code for Manufacturing eLearning Course.

Kind regards,

Tony

NSF is probably peed your not asking about their haccp class.  LOL   HACCP | NSF Learn

if you want an inexpensive class:  HACCP Basics for Processors and Manufacturers | National Environmental Health Association: NEHA

The IFSQN also offer great value HACCP training: Practical HACCP Training for Food Safety Teams: 4-hours of training plus an online exam for only $97USD. Everyone who successfully completes the exam receives an IFSQN Academy Certificate.

The training can be taken on-demand or live (where you can ask questions as we go along). The next live training webinar is Friday, October 07, 2022.

Kind regards,

Tony

Hi Tony - C! Thank you for the response.

I saw the same Zosi course but I noticed it does not have a certificate label on it, therefore, no certificate?

Is this HACCP course NSF-approved?

Hi QC/QW,

NSF is a Training & Education Service Provider* so the IFSQN wouldn’t seek approval from them. (*for example they offer HACCP training at $750USD per person).

They are accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)

As a Training Service Provider, the IFSQN could seek accreditation from IACET but we feel it would add significant cost and don’t believe it would add proportionate value to our training. The Practical HACCP Training for Food Safety Teams covers a lot of ground in the 4 hours and meets the requirements of GFSI Benchmarked Standards for training of HACCP Team Members. We feel it is great value and "it does what it says on the tin" for only $97USD. The feedback from previous customers can be found in the HACCP Training Reviews here.

Kind regards,

Tony

Hello Tony-C,

Thank you for the responses.

The linked courses you sent are only HACCP? I am also looking for SQF Implementation for manufacturers.

From what I remember during the audits, our auditor asks for certificates showing that our site practitioners are HACCP and SQF certified. Will the linked HACCP course have a certificate?

*Edit: Sorry, I just read the details on the course and it does. For HACCP, I guess I'll go with this route because it is more affordable and accredited. If you have information on the SQF course, please let me know. If not, I think I'll just order the one from Zosi.

Hi QC/WC,

After the Practical HACCP Training for Food Safety Teams Webinar trainees take a 30-minute online exam. When you pass the exam, you receive an IFSQN Academy Certificate.

We offer various other paid training on-demand and live here.

We also provide Food Safety Fridays Webinars which are free.

As an example, there is a free 1-hour Implementing an SQF Code Edition 9 compliant Food Safety Management System Webinar.

Kind regards,

Tony

From what I remember during the audits, our auditor asks for certificates showing that our site practitioners are HACCP and SQF certified.

SQF Certification is not required however, the Practitioner must have good knowledge of the code and be able to demonstrate it. See code verbiage below.

2.1 Training (optional) An “Implementing SQF Quality Systems” training course is available online and through the SQFI network of licensed training centers. SQF Quality practitioners who are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the requirements of the SQF Quality Code are encouraged to participate in a training course. The “Implementing SQF Quality Systems” training course is not mandatory for SQF Quality practitioners but is strongly recommended.

Hello cookinmaple,

I looked into it and it does say that. Now I want to know why they required the previous SQF practitioners to get a certificate.

Thank you for the information!

Hi QC/WC,

:uhm:

Not sure I can ever recall a requirement to have a certificate, I have checked back 10 years.

From SQF Code Module 2 Guidance Document published in 2013 2.1.2 Implementation Guidance:

Note that SQF practitioners are not required to complete an Implementing SQF Systems training course or Implementing SQF Systems examination, it is not compulsory although either or both is recommended. However, the practitioner is required to understand and demonstrate knowledge of the SQF Code and its application within the site.

Same in 2017, Edition 8 Guidance.

SQF Practitioner & Substitute Practitioner Edition 9 Guidance Document 2021:

Implementation & Audit Guidance

What does it mean?

Although SQF Systems training and examination is not mandatory for SQF practitioners, it is recommended, and SQF practitioners are required to understand and demonstrate knowledge of the current version of the SQF Code and its application within the site.

It is likely that the auditor will more closely scrutinize the SQF Practitioner’s knowledge of the SQF Food Safety Code if they do not take the training and have a certificate.

Kind regards,

Tony

Hi Setanta,

Your team can view the webinar as a group but we will need to register them individually because after the Practical HACCP Training for Food Safety Teams Webinar each trainee takes a 30-minute online exam.

Kind regards,

Tony

I was hoping to pay as a group, but I am guessing that isn't an option.
Thank you!

I paid, signed up and could not access this class. Does it take a certain amount of time for the transaction to go through?

Thank you Setanta.

It can take from a few hours to 24 hours as we have to register you manually for the exam.

You should have received your instructions by now.

Kind regards,

Tony
