Good afternoon,

I would like some help regarding the labelling requirements for non consumers packages according the FDA regulation.

The products are single ingredients (spice or botanical) sold to manufacturers.

Thank you so much in advance.

Regards,

Elsa

Everything I've seen about labeling can be found under 21 CFR 110, but there aren't many requirements regarding non-retail foods.  CFR - Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 (fda.gov)

Some extra guidance from the new Traceability Rule covers shipping here (though the traceability rule doesn't specifically apply to all foods): Food Traceability Rule: Critical Tracking Events and Key Data Elements (fda.gov)

What I've always seen for bulk non-retail is a simplified version of what is required on retail packaging with a focus on traceability parameters:

Packer name/location

Product name

Ingredients (in order of most to least volume, with Contains: [allergen] when applicable)

Lot code

Pack date

Expiration date

Temperature requirements (if applicable)

21 CFR 101.9(j)

The following foods are exempt from this section or are subject to special labeling requirements:

(9) Food products shipped in bulk form that are not for distribution to consumers in such form and that are for use solely in the manufacture of other foods or that are to be processed, labeled, or repacked at a site other than where originally processed or packed.
