Dears,

one of the FSSC 22000 additional requirements is : Requirements for organization with multi-site certification

Q1: is only for food chain categories E,F&G , it means that the other food chain categories not required to follow these requirements ?

Q2: Why those requirements for only those food chain categories E,F&G ? ( what is the main purpose from this requirement )

Hi mhosn,

It would seem that those categories (including catering, food service, retail, wholesale, e-commerce, transport and storage services) are more likely to be chains and have multiple sites where a group certificate may be acceptable.

In other categories is likely that individual sites will want a certificate and this is not permitted under the scheme. Relevant sections are posted below.

FSSC 22000 Certification Scheme PART 3 REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS

5.3 MULTI-SITE CERTIFICATION 5.3.1 GENERAL

c) Multi-site certification (including sampling) is only allowed for the following food chain (sub)categories:

• E – Catering

• FI – Retail/wholesale

• FII - Brokering/Trading/E-commerce

• G – Storage and distribution

i) The certificate shall be a group certificate issued to the multi-site organization. It is not allowed to issue certificates to individual sites in the case of multi-site certification.

Kind regards,

Tony
