What does your HACCP plan look like? Do you guys send flow diagrams when customers want to see a copy of your plan?

Rare I get a request for the full plan, usually just a flow chart is the norm, which I don't mind sending out.   If you want to look at my full plan you'd better be buying a lot from us, otherwise it's a no, and I tell um GFSI cert is enough.   If you don't like it, kick rocks.

I do have like two or three very large customers that want to see the HACCP plan, and I send um the whole kit n kaboodle knowing they'll never look at all of it anyway.   Just my HA is enough to keep you busy for a week at least, lol.

Big customers can and sometimes do demand a full copy of our program, and when they're spending millions with us, they're allowed to lol.  But smaller customers get the flow chart and a statement on letterhead that we have the program along with our GFSI certs.

I have never had a worry in sending the whole flipping plan but normally people don't actually want that.  I would normally send flow diagrams or a summary of them and the summary of CCPs / oPRPs and it's rare anyone comes back for more.

Hi kconf,

I would normally send flow diagrams and summary of key controls including CCPs.

To be honest they have what they want if it means they are less likely to want to come and do an on-site audit taking up a whole day of my time.

Kind regards,

Tony

Only the biggest customers get the full plan, most customers who request a HACCP plan get the summary. (They're already getting the flowchart either way.)

I seriously wonder if they even look at this stuff.   IMHO they get it, throw it in a folder, check a box that they have it, and move on.

Next time someone asks I'm going to send them my grocery list and see if they notice or complain.....

Were you the kid in college that changed the extension on a random .jpg to .doc, then emailed to professors. So you get a little more time to "fix the corrupted file"?

People who blindly accept the file without checking if the CCPs actually remove, manage, or contain the risk are not doing their company a disservice. The whole point of CCPs is to manage risks. If you're going to ask for details and get them delivered, you need to check them too.

Lol, no, I'm the guy that used to meet my instructor for a double chivas before class, and then two after class was over....

Yeah, I concur.   But I still think many of these places don't even look at what they request.   They just check that you sent it.   MAYBE they open it and verify it's what you say it is, but there's no way they're going all the way through my Hazard Analysis and confirming everything.   I doubt they'd even know how to do so.

A friend once submitted a thesis draft with the comment of "Dr X you're not even reading this are you?" in the middle of the text.  Mr red pen who was fond of making sure every i was dotted and t was crossed read absolutely f all and we knew it.  He missed it, much to our petty sense of humour.

We created a Food Safety Plan Summary that gives the brief overview of the food safety plan and some bullet points of programs like the CCP, Supp Program, metal detection, etc. We have found the summary so far has worked and satisfied the ask. Much easier to read through if they want and organized that they can pull out the CCP and limits for relevancy.
