Fantasy World Cup Competition (Mystery Prize on Offer)

Best Answer , 20 July 2014 - 10:24 AM

Well at the end of a thoroughly captivating competition the only entrants remaining with a "will to live" are:

Mr I - 89 points
Tony C - 72 points
Jpredmore - 70 points

By sticking with it to the end they all deserve a prize; I must say it was rather complex and with hindsight...blah, blah, blah...

I'm just going to verify (or is it validate) Mr I's score, unless he has it completely wrong I think he is the convincing winner. I will be back shortly to confirm.

Added:

OK I'm back and I have MR I's score at 93. Admittedly I could have miscounted as one needs a degree in such things to compute, however allowing for a degree of uncertainty it was certainly a lot more than 72 and on that basis I declare Mr I the winner of this enthralling competition. Thankfully the next world cup is 4 years away...

The winning scoresheet.

I will be back again in another little while to announce the prize.

Added:

I figured after such a tense and stressful competition you may want to relax with a large strong coffee whilst squeezing on something nice and soft and perhaps a lucky pen for entering competitions. Here are your prizes Mr I...congratulations!  Please send me a PM with your address.

I have put the results in the same format, hopefully I have copied them all across correctly!

attachicon.gifWorld Cup Results to 26th June 2014.xlsx

Regards,

Tony

Wow... I'm dumb lol I could have just done that.  Thanks Tony.

So simon:  To get points in this section do you have to have the correct score by top/bottom of what you picked or just overall the correct score IE:

I had 1

         0

Result has to be 1

                           0

or can it be   0

                     1

Just wondering so I can try to keep an accurate score.  I don't want to be doing my math wrong again :shades:

Good day or night!  Work has been dominating my life mainly because we just acquired a new Plant Manager and well....... you know.  Anyway, I've been out of the loop.  Just quickly looked at some scores these past few days and I didn't fare well.  I believe I have 59 points so far.

That's a fantastic score compared to some of us.   I didn't aim for the bottom but not being an expert.....okay being clueless, has me most likely bringing up the rear.   :headhurts:

You're in luck because I have Brazil to go out on penalties in this one and my predictions are a bit of a disaster so far!

Yep, it has got trickier to keep score :uhm:

A bit like going from additions & subtractions to calculus!

59 points I reckon, I'm playing catch up so I'm sure there are others with more points

I think I picked up 13 on the round of 16...

I had Germany winning by the score they won by against a different team so that was 5.

Beyond that I picked up some 2's for having the right winner by top/bottom like I said the top team was going to win with 3 the bottom team was going to lose with 1 and if the top team had 2 and the bottom team had 0... I guess... that's a 2.

So if that reasoning is correct then I picked up 13.  I didn't have any draws so the games that were decided by penalties, which I don't even know how that works, I think I'm straight losing because I didn't pick any draws and penalties...

So depending on how this actually works I might be at:  83... but idk to be honest anymore.

If I'm keeping scoer correctly I hav e 214 points.

This took a lot more 10 sided dice than I had originally planned.

Brian Smalls and Micheal Jordan did surprisingly well.

Is the US still in the game or did we die?

Was a good weekend for British sport this weekend

We had the two Wimbeldon finals, British Grand Prix and the start of the Tour De France (without Wiggo & now Mark Cavendish is out)

Commonwealth games to start soon in Glasgow.

Football well then be forgotten!!

Caz xx
