Fantasy World Cup Competition (Mystery Prize on Offer)

Best Answer , 20 July 2014 - 10:24 AM

Well at the end of a thoroughly captivating competition the only entrants remaining with a "will to live" are:

Mr I - 89 points
Tony C - 72 points
Jpredmore - 70 points

By sticking with it to the end they all deserve a prize; I must say it was rather complex and with hindsight...blah, blah, blah...

I'm just going to verify (or is it validate) Mr I's score, unless he has it completely wrong I think he is the convincing winner. I will be back shortly to confirm.

Added:

OK I'm back and I have MR I's score at 93. Admittedly I could have miscounted as one needs a degree in such things to compute, however allowing for a degree of uncertainty it was certainly a lot more than 72 and on that basis I declare Mr I the winner of this enthralling competition. Thankfully the next world cup is 4 years away...

The winning scoresheet.

I will be back again in another little while to announce the prize.

Added:

I figured after such a tense and stressful competition you may want to relax with a large strong coffee whilst squeezing on something nice and soft and perhaps a lucky pen for entering competitions. Here are your prizes Mr I...congratulations!  Please send me a PM with your address.

Well... I picked up 2 points on the Argentina game but other than than the Quarter Finals beat me up pretty bad.  But here is my question.

I had the top team in game 59 winning, which it did, but it won by penalties (however that works) so is that also 2 points for the correct winner?

Should I just stop trying to figure out my points and just wait until Simon declares a winner?  That may be my best option. :silly:

I'm not declaring a winner, you will declare a score and I will verify it. I suppose I will then. Re points the scores are after 90 minutes (normal time). You get points only for correct result and a bonus for correct score. Nothing else.

Was a good weekend for British sport this weekend

We had the two Wimbeldon finals, British Grand Prix and the start of the Tour De France (without Wiggo & now Mark Cavendish is out)

Commonwealth games to start soon in Glasgow.

Football well then be forgotten!!

Caz xx

It was a good weekend of sport.

Football will be forgotten for around 10 days - then pre-season starts & within a month the English football season starts

On 68 points, a bit of a come back but too little too late

I was watching, stepped out 3 minutes or less to walk the dog, come back and they went from 2-0 to 4-0... I was like omg what the hell did I miss?

The rout was brutal but that's sports sometimes.

So heading to the last two games I'm on a dismal 70 points :( & a maximum possible of 80 points. Must be plenty that can beat that!

Well as Gary Lineker said:

Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 *120 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win:k9:

*Minor liberty taken ;)

Well done Germany and a 'Super Mario' goal by Götze to win it.

As for the competition I reckon I'm a bit of chimp rather than champ on 72 points :crybaby:

I think I have 89 points if I am correct with the finals.

I definitely had 70 at the end of the first section.

So my best guess, Simon verifying, is 89.

Yes that can be confusing but basically it is the boxes that your scores are in that count not the teams.
