In regards to secure storage of cleaning chemicals  covered in SQF 11.6.4, we currently store our CIP chemicals near production areas.   If we were to have our CIP chemicals stored in locked fencing/cages would this suffice in meeting the requirements?  We are also trying to determine if a coded padlock would be sufficient or if we have to use something else (e.g. lock with key access and the key would have be be kept in a specific location or a fingerprint access, etc.)?

I don't know what the term "near" means in this context - some might think a foot while others 100 feet, etc.

As to locks, you need to secure storage to authorized personnel, etc - so a padlock is fine.

On the subject of fencing, remember the word secure, if I can go thru, over or under the fence or if I can reach in with my hand or a device to snag something it is not secure.
