Hi all,
Hope you're all safe and well.
I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction in regards to EU regulations around acid and peroxide values in oils. More specifically food supplements if possible. I can't seem to find much useful information.
Any advice/guidance would be appreciated!
Food supplements aren't my area of expertise, but in general I'd expect the EU regulatory position to be set up in terms of requirements for the component parts (i.e. the oil rather than the finished supplement in which it is used) for an area like this.
Oils also aren't something I'm overly familiar with, but there is a specific regulatory standard for Olive Oil as an example - see Regulation (EEC) 2568/91: https://eur-lex.euro...1R2568-20191020
They're not really "contaminants" in the sense intended for Regulation (EC) 1881/2006 so I'm not surprised to see them not featured in the Annex there. In the absence of any input from a more knowledgeable forum member, I'd be inclined to start with Codex STAN-19: https://www.fao.org/...4e/y2774e03.htm
As you're in the UK, you could also try reaching out to SCOPA, who would be the relevant industry association for oils: http://www.scopa.org.uk/
