About Blogs & Blogging

Posted by Simon, in Website Updates 01 April 2010 · 2,082 views

The bigger picture on the changes we’ve made to the forums is that we are attempting to make this place more personal, friendly and more of a community.

One of the new features is Blogs. Blogs are a new and innovative feature of the forums and any member is welcome and encouraged to create a blog of their own. A blog can be about anything personal or business or a mixture of the two.

As administrator of the forums I’m using this blog to uncover and expand on various features of the forums to help members improve their experience.

If you are passionate or extremely knowledgeable about a particular subject why not start a blog of your own.

For example your blog could be about skiing, stamp collecting, science, fishing or whatever. On the business side it could be a blog about continuous improvement tools, microsoft excel, pest control, HACCP, auditing, microbiology, ISO 22000 etc. or it could just be a personal online diary of random thoughts or events.

The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive feature and will add further value and blogs having a prominent position on the forums home page.

If you have a business and are a regular poster here I don’t mind if you have a bit of free advertising such as your logo and link to your website on your blog.

If you need further information please read this: A guide to viewing the community blogs and creating your own blog.

Lastly I’d like to say do not be afraid to give it a try. You cannot break anything, blogs can be deleted if you don’t like it; mistakes can be rectified. Go ahead and create a test blog to see how it works…

Best Wishes,
Simon

I really like the new lay out - unfortunately that means I wander around the site much longer than I should. Anyway - can we link to the events page and find out if anyone is attending the events so we can meet one another when possilbe? Or should that be in a blog or discussion elsewhere? How about a summary of events in case folks attend?
Hi Cathy,

There is an events page on our website here: http://www.ifsqn.com/events.php - it has various training courses, seminars, exhibitions etc. from all over the world. The events page is linked to from the events image at the top of the page.

We also have a calendar on the forums that can be found at the bottom of the right hand column. Here is the direct link to the calendar: http://www.ifsqn.com...lendar&cal_id=1 – at the moment it just has members birthdays.

Members are free to add events to the events page or the calendar. At some stage it is a goal of mine to merge them.

Did that answer your question Cathy?

By the way is anyone thinking about creating a blog? Anyone had a try?

Regards,
Simon
